Marta J. Borys is The Yoga Practice’s guest teacher and owner of Marta Borys Yoga.
Background
Marta was born in 1983 in a small city in north-west Poland and moved to Denmark as a young adult to study. She began practicing yoga in her mid-twenties as a remedy for spinal problems and has kept yoga as both a physical and philosophical part of her life ever since.
As part of her self-development and self-care, Marta joined a 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2018. The encouragement and inspiration from teachers she met there motivated her to begin sharing yoga through teaching. Since early 2019, she has been growing as a teacher by offering yoga in workspaces, fitness studios, in nature, and mostly privately under the banner of Marta Borys Yoga.
Why Yoga with Marta?
Marta practices and teaches yoga to create harmony and balance between body and mind through the energy of breath.
She treats the ancient asana practice as a gift—something deeply needed in the busyness of modern life.
She creates a safe space where students can nourish the body with strength and flexibility, but also connect with themselves through self-inquiry and acceptance. Her welcoming practice offers a chance to experience both playfulness and joy, and to connect with others—or something greater than oneself.
Education
In 2018, Marta completed a Yoga Alliance-registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with East + West Yoga in Bali, Indonesia.
Here, she studied with Vijeth Kumar—a student of yogi Sri Niranjana Saraswati and B.K.S. Iyengar, and a postgraduate in yogic sciences and human consciousness at Mangalore University. She also trained with Alison Litchfield, a lifelong yoga and movement educator, somatic coach, and mentor focused on women’s wellbeing.
In 2023, Marta studied Mindfulness Meditation with Cyndi Lee—an internationally respected yoga teacher and long-term meditator rooted in Tibetan Buddhism—focusing on meditation as a way to observe thought patterns and embrace the possibility of a fresh start in each moment.
In 2025, she completed a Yoga Alliance-registered 100-hour Yin Yoga & Guided Meditation Instructor course at Aegialis School of Yoga on Amorgos, Greece.
Here, she studied with Miriam Indries, an internationally certified yoga teacher trainer (E-RYT 500, E-CYT 500, YACEP) with a background in psychology, NLP, and Ayurveda—known for her unique, intuitive teaching style and deep focus on yoga philosophy.
